Good bye cruel South Carolina

I've spent half of my life in the Palmetto state, it's been okay. I haven't whithered, I haven't prospered, so goes my life in Columbia. Well no more, tomorrow I'm done. Done with this city and state. I'm picking up and moving to Vegas to get outa here while the gettins good. My puter broke some months back, and I don't really have the resources to get a new one. I also will be spending much time finding a job, trying to get a job dealing cards and playing much poker, as well as trips to LA and Pheonix to visit friends. Alas that will leave me with little time to wax poetic about issues of the day online, so this is officially my TTFN.
In a few months when I get settled, in a new house and not the apartment that will immediatly be my domicile, I will be back. However, much distaction I will have. Oh yeah, this is gonna be my back yard:

Seriously, I walk out of my apartment complex and into The Palms casino.
So, uh, guess I'll see you guys around.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot pooties.

And a special message to mydd.
Decent Obama peeps, keep on keepin on.
Decent Clinton peeps, I will miss the banter.
Alegre, try to stay positive in your writing, I really do like your positive work about your girl.
I sincerly hope we can all come together behind the nominee in november.
I see it as 50/50, with each candidate having a 55/45 beating MacSame.
Lets not beat ourselves.

Thanks again for helping me (2.00 / 1)

I appreciated you helping me get my posting rights back... whatever happened there.

Drewid, be careful in Vegas.  Everyone I've known that's gone there to live has gone vaguely insane... or perhaps they were somewhat nuts to begin with.

I just know that, from my day and a half there, I would eventually shank someone if illegal immagrents tried to hand me prostitution fliers every time I tried to walk down the street.  I mean, you think Obama's Henry and Louise fliers were bad...

Seriously, though.  Take care.  I may not be here when you get back, or I might.  Depends on whether or not I find some rational republican netroots to talk to in order to bring 'em over to our candidate.  If we can't do it this year, when can we?

Yeah, those esse's and their card snappin.
It didn't used to be all immigrants doin that work, but last four times I went Latinos had pretty much cornered the market on vice street advertising.
I do plan on learning spanish, it's not hard and I figure it's worthwhile to know.
Oh yeah, I'm already a little crazy, so Vegas won't sway me much.
I've been there 7 times, all up in it, and I can handle myself so it'll be fun.

Word up, then. (none / 0)

You should've posted your farewell diary at some other time than like 10 PM on a weeknight. :p

What I don't get is why they even bother making prostitution illegal in Vegas when it's legal everywhere else in Nevada.  Just legalize it so they can advertise in less intrusive ways.

It's not like people have this illusion that there aren't prostitutes in Vegas...

Anyway, take care!

As James L. Pettigru once said,
"South Carolina is too small to be a republic -
and too large to be an insane asylum."

Re: Good bye cruel South Carolina (2.00 / 2)

Good luck trying to live without sweet tea, boiled peanuts, Duke's mayonaisse, and pickled okra. Those are the four biggest reasons that I don't leave South Carolina for longer than two weeks at a time.

Actually, I live in Charleston now and like it alot, although when I lived here in the early 90s, it was a lot cooler. I've also lived in Columbia before, during law school. Not the prettiest place on the planet, but still I liked the scene okay. I grew up in Anderson, which is one of those places where I liked living until I graduated high school, after which there has been little reason to return (basically, to see my parents.) Actually, if you've ever seen the movie "Radio," starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., that's my high school.

Dude: Columbia? How did I not know that?

I've only recently gotten to the point where I have lived in Atlanta longer (15 years next month) than I lived in Columbia beforehand (13 years).
