Dracomicron wishes MyDD well *Updated*

I was poking around what many here affectionatly call "The great orange satan" earlier and ran across a diary by someone who has for some reason lost posting privledges here. Not a banning I gather, just suspension of posting privledges. I won't comment as to any reasons why privledges were suspended, because I don't know. A few weeks ago a diary was "smuggled" in for a prominant Clinton supporter, so I figured it might be acceptable. I'm not going to go on for a paragraph or so about censorship because I really don't see blog moderation to be an infringment of anyones 1st amendment rights. I do hate to take up the space of another diary about some Penn. poll, but without further ado, below the fold Dracomicron has something they'd like you to know.

Around noon on Friday, 4/18, I lost my ability to post to you, and multiple letters to the site admins have not resolved the issue nor have they revealed the reason behind my handicap.

I am a Barack Obama supporter, but I believe that Hillary Clinton should be honored for all of her public service and would be a better president than John McCain.  My last post to MyDD was praise of the vigorous primary process and optimism that all of the excited voters, donations, and infrastructure caused by the tightly contested race espouses.

I try to be fair to both Democratic candidates and point out factual problems of both, though I admit to knowing more to defend Barack Obama with, as that is my admitted bias.  I never cite right-wing news sources without warning and caveat, and I have never published a smear diary.  If I cannot return, then I would like to simply re-iterate my hopes that MyDD continue to be a place where differing opinions can be shared, but that the tone of such discussions be as civil as possible.

I would like to conclude with a by-no-means comprehensive list of the MyDD posters and diarists that I have come to enjoy the work of: ragekage, Veteran75, upstate girl, Student Guy, MBNYC, GFORD, TruthMatters, Populista, Xanthe, professor, vadasz, IowaMike,  DreamsOfABlueNation, KathyM, CardBoard, Drewid, and even folks I disagree with but are honest and willing to debate, such as freemansfarm and sricki.  I'm sure I missed dozens.

I hope you are all well.  Go Democracy!

Sincerely,

Dracomicron

Why was he banned?

Wasn't banned, just can't post.

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 2)

Could it be a glitch or a mistake? I have a hard time seeing why he would have been banned or suspended. I don't recall ever seeing him post anything outrageous or terribly disrespectful. There are some people around here who need to be banned, but they're still here. I really hate it when the more reasonable diarists leave because it seems to make the crazies around here that much louder.

From what I can gather (2.00 / 1)

many people lose posting privledges here, I don't know what for, I've never had that problem, but users on all sides have had it happen.

He does not like my work!! :-)

Well, I have not posted many diaries here since Edwards dropped out.

Nice diary.  I have no idea why he cannot post.  I'm sure there is a reason.

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 2)

There's always some kind of reason.
He did say he missed many shout outs though.
Honestly, I think he added me in after I said I'd smuggle it in here, I could be wrong though, probably am.

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 1)

Well, do we really know anything about users who post on blogs. If you've seen someone around for years it's safe to assume they're a dem, and if they get overzealous in their online advocacy it can be understandable. But if there's a user you're not familiar with posting bomb throwing diaries sure to incite a flame war, well is it beyond the pale to think maybee they're just a RW troll?

My user ID is 831. (none / 0)

Up until a couple months ago I don't remember ever getting TR'd, hidden, or losing TU status except when I didn't post for a while. Now all of a sudden I'm a RW troll. I was treated better at redstate when I was criticizing George Bush than I am here for supporting Hillary Clinton.

At dkos my UID was 8313. I was a Deaniac in late 2003. Now I'm treated like scum there. At least I was before I quit going there.

You guys can have Obama. I'll do the same thing to him I've been doing to Bush for 5 years.

Possible explanation (none / 0)

I just looked at some of your posts, and they seem to be fairly content-light.  This isn't inherently bad, but I think people are more likely to jump to conclusions about troll status if someone is really critical without introducing back-up evidence.

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 3)

I guess we can't prove it, I'm pretty sure we have some Republicans around here. There's one diarist who's obviously a freeper, who gets banned and then returns with a different user name. S/he's currently posting under the name "ilovebillnot" and always refers to Hillary as "Rodham-Clinton". Check out his/her most recent piece of garbage. No doubt in my mind, that's a freeper, not an Obama supporter. There's also someone around here who posted a diary which linked to Grant Swank, who's really a pretty radical conservative and thinks Obama's a Muslim. That diarist also referred to some of the people on this site as "liberal pukes". 100%, grade-A freeper material.

Yup. And WWGWD is another repug troll, yet he's still posting his daily diaries.

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 1)

Oh yes. The one who's handle probably stands for "What Would George W. Do". Amazing how some of these people haven't been weeded out. I still can't believe that sexist "Rodham-Clinton" diary wasn't deleted, but it makes for good evidence that we're infested with Republicans, I suppose.

Names (2.00 / 2)

It's astonishing what you can learn from posters by the names they use.

If someone uses more than two words to name a candidate, it seems like they're generally trolling.  Hillary Rodham-Clinton or Barack Hussein Obama, while those are proper names, there's no reason to use all three words unless you're trying to make some point.

For names like "George Bush," we do need to designate which one we're talking about, but is there another Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in national politics that we might be speaking of?

In Hillary's case, trolls want folks to remember that she's a 90's feminist who must (heavens no!) be somehow emasculating.  In Obama's case, they just want to remind people that he's a stealth muslim terrorist.

I tend to just call them "Clinton" and "Obama."  Hillary is the only Clinton running for the presidency, so it's easy enough to point out her husband with his first name and just designate Hillary by her last name.

Come now, campskunk, Draco never did any such thing, and it's horrible of you to suggest he did. You are one to talk as well, sir. Though I suppose you'd be one to judge. Certainly, your behavior has always been exemplary; never dehumanized Obama supporters, never engaged in unwarranted or drive-by troll rate abuse

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 1)

Dracomicron was always civil and did not engage in name-calling, flaming or dehumanization of either Clinton or her supporters. (For example, he would never say something like, oh, Obama supporters' parents owe you money for babysitting.)

It's pretty laughable to suggest that Dracomicron was quasi-banned for anything he/she ever did, when so many other unrepentant malcontents still have their run of the place.

If you don't know the facts, it's best not to cast aspersions.

Re: Dracomicron wishes MyDD well (2.00 / 1)

That happened to me a month or so ago and was resolved. I do believe if someone loses posting privileges they should first receive a warning..
and specific reason. If they are "banned" they should be provided specifics.

I do know there were a few who were banned (they can be found on Hilleryis44 for those that miss them) because their rants were not in the spirit of the Democratic party.

I don't remember such extremism from Dracomicron but I certainly have my bias.
